About the Landsharks Running Club

The Landsharks Running Club, a Colorado Springs based non-profit, develops young athletes in positive, safe, character-based programs for those in Kindergarten through 6th grade.

The focus is on having fun, competing against individual abilities, improving personal skills, being an encouraging teammate, making new friends, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

In the fall and winter, our athletes focus on cross-country and in the spring, our athletes learn the fundamentals of Track.  We also offer Summer and Winter Camps. We train parents, teachers and past Landsharks participants to help lead and coach our programs.

Since 2000, the Landsharks Running Club has provided hundreds of thousands of children with experiences that benefit their physical and psycho-social health.

The benefits of Landsharks outweighs the physical benefits and have been proven to teach children perseverance; goal-setting and other skills that help them succeed academically, socially, and as an athlete in numerous sports.

We have over 100 schools participating throughout the Colorado Springs Area, Monument, Woodland Park, Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch and Parker.

Please note: Homeschool students or students of other non-participating schools are always welcome to join any of our school programs.

We are excited to invite you and help guide you through this exciting process.  Landsharks is here to make this a great experience.

We offer a non-competitive youth program to introduce running to young athletes in a safe and fun environment. The focus is on self-improvement, being an encouraging teammate, and making new friends.

The Spring Track school program is led by a Teacher and/or parent volunteers and is open to students in kindergarten through 6th grade.  The cost of the program and a school team shirt is required.  The shirt is the same each season, so no reason to purchase another shirt if it stills fits! The season begins in April and ends in May each year.

Practices are scheduled two times per week, before or after school for 45 minutes. Practices consist of running games and track workouts with a strong focus on fun.  Runners train in ability groups with peers and move up to the next group based on improvements made during the program.

Races are held at high school and middle school tracks, and last for approximately 90 minutes.  Each race night runners will run two races.

  • Race Night #1 - All runners will run the 50m dash, followed by their choice of a 400m or 800m race.
  • Race Night #2 - All runners will run the 100m dash, followed by their choice of a 400m or 800m race.
  • Race Night #3 - Runners start with their choice of a mile or 400m race, followed by all runners doing the 200m dash.

At the races, runners receive a race tag with their number, ribbons, a series medal at the final race, and refreshments. Race results are posted within 24 hours of completion.   Parents and high school athletes volunteer as race officials.
